Elavenil Valarivan gained worldwide recognition after winning a silver medal at the 2019 Universiade. That same year, she won a gold medal at the World Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. In the same year, she had the honor of representing India at the Rio Olympics and won the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle World Cup. She finished fourth at the 2019 ISSF Shooting World Cup finals in Munich, Germany. She won her first gold medal in the 10m air rifle senior event at the 2019 Asian Air Rifle Championships in Taoyuan, Taipei, Taiwan.
