When the player first encounters Gatekeeper Gostoc, he will not let the player buy the Buckler Shield, he is now an NPC in the story and only allows the player to talk to him. In order for Gostoc to become a merchant, the player must defeat Godric the Graft atop Stormveil Castle and obtain the Rusty Key. Rusty Keys can also be found in Stormveil Castle.

How to find Gatekeeper Gostoc in Elden Ring

It has one of the worse blocking stats than the standard small or medium shield. Players should keep in mind that although Buckler Block is unique to Buckler shields, players can still add other Ashes of War to the shield.
