Paul received his initial training in athletics and triple long jump at the Mar Athanasius College Sports Hostel under former national jump coach TP Ouseph.
Later in 2016 he joined Indian Navy. He also trained under Harikrishnan at the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
His first gold medal win was at the 2021 Indian Grand Prix 1 and the Senior National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Patiala.
In 2022, he participated and won gold at the Indian Grand Prix in Thiruvanthapuram. He also won the National Federation Cup and the 2022 Indian Open Jumps Competition.
