Elle Fanning is going to Broadway!
On Friday, Fanning, 25, announced on Instagram that she will be making her Broadway debut in the upcoming production Appropriate in November. She is set to star with Sarah Paulson, Corey Stoll, Natalie Gold (Succession) and Alyssa Emily Marvin in the play.
“Making my Broadway debut in #AppropriateBway by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (@_bjj__) with @nataliegold_48, @alyssaemmarvin, #CoreyStoll & @mssarahcatherinepaulson @2stnyc!!” she wrote in the description of her post.
Fanning received some love from her double co-star Michelle Pfeiffer, who left three “🔥🔥🔥” emojis in the comments of her Instagram post. Fanning and Pfeiffer, 65, both appeared in 2001 I’m alone — in which Elle’s older sister Dakota also starred — as well as in 2019. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Appropriate is set to begin preview performances at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater in New York on Wednesday, November 29, with a premiere set for Monday, December 18, according to multiple outlets.

The play, described on the official website as a “darkly comedic American family drama,” was written by playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and will be directed by Lila Neugebauer. It is not clear what role Fanning will play.
That’s what it says in the official synopsis of the production Appropriate revolves around members of the Lafayette family, who “return to their late patriarch’s home in Arkansas to deal with the remains of his estate” during a warm summer.

“Toni (Sarah Paulson), the oldest daughter, hopes to spend the weekend remembering and reconnecting with her beloved father. Bo (Corey Stoll), her brother, wants to recoup some of the funds he spent caring for his dad at the end of his life.” , it says in the synopsis. “But things take a turn when their estranged brother, Franz, shows up late one night, and mysterious objects are discovered among the clutter.”

“Suddenly, long-hidden secrets and buried grudges cannot be contained, and the family is forced to confront the ghosts of their past,” the synopsis concludes.
Fanning’s arrival on Broadway comes amid the ongoing Hollywood actors’ strike, which has prevented actors from working on major studio films and television productions. Fanning recently appeared in a bigseason three — the series was canceled in August.
Tickets for Appropriate can now be purchased online. Previews begin at the Hayes Theater Second Stage on November 29th, with a December 18th premiere.
