Ellen DeGeneres Is Caring for a Chicken with a Broken Fibula in Her Sink: ‘She’s Healing’

Ellen DeGeneres just shared an update about her injured chicken.

On Friday, the comedian posted a video on Instagram updating followers about her chicken Sinky, after the animal was found with an injured leg.

In the video, DeGeneres (65) shared that after she took the injured chicken to the vet, it was confirmed that she had a broken fibula and would need four weeks to recover in a special facility.

After DeGeneres shared the news, she joked to the vet, “You must be ‘messing’ with me.”

The comedian quickly confirmed that she was not joking. “That’s terrible. And it’s nothing to joke about. Well, yes, my chick has a broken fibula.”

After saying the chicken would have to recover outside of DeGeneres’ home, she added that her previous treatment plan of keeping the chicken in the kitchen sink was “not the best place for her.”

Before DeGeneres announced the news, she took to Instagram on Thursday to share a video of the chicken in the bathroom sink before her vet appointment.

The veteran talk show host revealed that she and wife Portia de Rossi named the chicken Sinky because she “basically lived in [their] sink.”

“I know it’s a stupid name. You can blame Steve Carell for that,” DeGeneres joked. “He appointed her.”

On Thursday morning she said the chicken was “fine” and “eating”. The couple made a makeshift bed for Sinky with a few towels piled up in the bathroom sink.

DeGeneres then shared a bathroom tour with all the chicken’s recovery needs. “Downstairs is her food and some water for her. We put in a nesting box in case she wants to lay an egg.” She continued, “We cover everything with towels so it’s not slippery in case he wants to jump.”

After sharing a look at the chicken’s recovery area, DeGeneres took a close-up of Sinky’s injury and showed the chicken’s ruffled feathers around its broken fibula.

“Monkey was outside the door constantly asking how Sinky was doing and wanting to help,” shared the Ellen host. “Anyway, I’ll keep you posted. But a broken fibula. I don’t know how she did it. But she is recovering, she will be fine.”
