Emily Henry shares more information about the eagerly awaited film adaptations of her novels. On September 3, the bestselling author appeared on Elin Hilderbrand and Tim Ehrenberg’s page Books, the beach and more podcast, where she discussed the upcoming film adaptation of her 2021 romance novel People we meet on vacation. The film is to be produced by Netflix and will star Tom Blyth and Emily Bader. “The cast is there on set and rehearsing right now. So things are really, really moving,” Henry said. “[The show has] had many writers. The writer we originally hired who did multiple drafts is Yulin Kuang, who I love. She’s fantastic.”

“Having read so many repetitions of the script and watching all these different writers come, I really, honestly, worried, because I feel so easy it is to make something just Frankenstein’s monster from the movie,” Henry said. “But I think it will be good. I really think it’s going to be good and I’m really excited about the cast.”

People we meet on vacation, which follows two estranged friends who meet again on a road trip, is just one of several screen adaptations of Henry’s bestselling romance works. In June, Jennifer Lopez confirmed that she was working on a 2023 series adaptation of Henry’s novel. Happy placewith Netflix and Lopez’s Nuyorican production company. Henry also stated in the podcast that there are updates for the adaptation of her latest novel Funny storyto be produced by Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company.

I just said, ‘Well, I’m going to study writing and maybe I’ll do that.’ And then I never took a screenwriting course or anything like that.”
