Emma Roberts is not over her mom denying her the chance to participate OC
During the interview Tell me lies star Grace Van Patten for NYLONThe 33-year-old actress admitted that she had the opportunity to audition for Marissa Cooper [Mischa Barton] younger sister, Kaitlin, on the hit series that ran for four seasons from 2003 to 2007.
“I watched again OC before the next season fell through because I was like, ‘I have to go back and understand every single thing,’ …I love OC,” shared Roberts. “I wasn’t allowed to watch it when it aired. My mom wouldn’t let me watch it because she thought it was inappropriate.”

She added: “I remember at one point they wanted me to audition to play Marissa Cooper’s younger sister and my mum wouldn’t let me. I’m still mad at her.”
As fans may recall, Kaitlin was played by two actresses during the series. Shailene Woodley played Marissa’s sister in the first season. The role was later recast with Willa Holland taking on the older version of Kaitlin in seasons three and four.
Woodley, now 32, explained that she looked too young for the role and was cast again as a result.

“I was switched when I was 13… because I hadn’t hit puberty yet… I was a late bloomer and it was fine,” she told Wired in 2020.
As for Roberts, in addition to being an executive producer Tell me lieshe is also working on a new show Calabasas with her American Horror Story: Delicate actress Kim Kardashian. She teased that the show is a mix between OC and another hit series for teenagers, Pretty Little Liars.
“Yes. Kim and I are executive producers of a series for Netflix called Calabasas” said Roberts SiriusXM Spotlight with Jessica Shaw. “We have the amazing Marlene King, who did it Pretty Little Liars as our showrunner. I am obsessed with her and Pretty Little Liars. I remember watching that show and going, ‘I wish I was on that show.’ It was so cool and so much fun.”

The cast of ‘The OC’: Where are they now?
“I mean, there’s not really much I can share other than I just feel like I want to, you know, next, OC. and I think if we get this right, it’s going to be a little bit OClittle Pretty Little Liars. Kim and I are just two girls from Calabasas going back to our roots,” she added.
OC ran for four seasons, following Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie), a troubled teenager from China who moves to Newport Beach to live with his public defender’s family. Friendships and romances blossomed on the Fox series as its young cast was thrust into the spotlight.
Meanwhile, Pretty Little Liars was inspired by Sarah Shepard’s book series of the same name and followed a group of friends stalked by the elusive “A.” While “A” starts contacting them after the disappearance of their friend Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and they eventually uncover the culprit. However, the four learn over the course of the series that the horrors that haunt them are much deeper than they previously thought.
