Beyoncé Shows Off Her Wash Day Routine and Gives a Rare Glimpse at Her Natural Hair

Beyoncé with good hair.

The 43-year-old superstar gave fans a rare glimpse into her hair care routine with a detailed wash day video shared on Monday, September 9. Using products from her brand Cécred, the Grammy winner walks viewers through each step while also sharing a close-up look at her long natural hair.

In the tutorial, Beyoncé wears a black hoodie and no makeup as she and a stylist take turns applying products to her hair.

“I’m going to start with a scalp scrub first,” the “Single Ladies” singer says in a voiceover. “I take my time and apply it to my scalp in sections… I let it sit and enjoy that refreshing tingle and then wash it off.

Next is a moisturizing shampoo that is rubbed into the star’s hair. “Notice I keep my hair straight,” she says. “I separate it into sections and shampoo section by section. That’s one of my secrets.”

The star then rinses her hair, mentioning another top tip: “Make sure you rinse those edges well, especially at the nape of the neck,” she says.

Next: moisturizing conditioner. “Again, sectioning the hair to avoid tangling and evenly saturating each strand,” Ms Knowles-Carter says in a voiceover. To help the conditioner work, she twists her hair into four buns and sits under the dryer. She points out that this step is not necessary, but she wanted to use the drying time to do her nails.

The final step is blow-drying, which Beyoncé does without any products. She then brushes her locks back into a sleek top knot before slipping on sunglasses and buttoning up her hoodie.

In April, the Destiny’s Child alum shared her natural hair care routine on Instagram with a video “from the archives.”

The guide appeared to confirm criticism of Cécred that surfaced when the brand was first announced in 2023.

Per Glamourcritics claimed that the singer does not have enough knowledge about natural hair because she often wears wigs. Others added that Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, is a licensed cosmetologist who used to run a hair salon and must have passed on her knowledge of hair care to her daughter.

“I’ve always found it exciting to disrupt and challenge everything people think the process should be,” Beyoncé wrote in the caption. “My hair and music seemed to do that a lot over the years…”

She added that “maintaining 25 years of blonde on natural hair through all the experiments I do” was key to the development of Cécred.
