Emma Slater Says She ‘Couldn’t Be Happier’ Two Years After Sasha Farber Split: ‘I’m Truly Dating Myself’ (Exclusive)

Emma Slater is open about her self-care tactics.

Two years after Slater (35) separated from her ex-husband, a colleague Dancing with the stars professional dancer Sasha Farber, told PEOPLE she “couldn’t be happier” to be spending time alone recently.

“I traveled a little. It’s a bit of a cliché to say, but spending time alone has been the most rewarding thing for me in the past few months,” Slater said at the Race to Erase MS Gala at the Fairmont Spa Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Friday, May 10.

“Dancing with the stars.” “I just finished the tour a little over a month ago and since then I’ve spent a lot of quality time alone, which I haven’t done in years,” she admitted. “It really helped me a lot and I was petrified to do it at first, but I forced myself to do it.”

The dancer added that “I’m really dating myself and I love it.”

Mauricio Umansky teases a DWTS Disney Night Paso Doble for a movie that’s ‘not done yet’ (Exclusive)

Slater and Farber married in 2018 after years of dating — and after getting engaged during a live taping DWTS in October 2016. After four years of marriage, the couple split in 2022, with a source telling PEOPLE in 2023 that there was “no bad blood” and that the divorce was amicable.

For Slater, being single is absolutely “enough for now.”

“I think that I am enough on my own and that I don’t need to be with anyone to feel validated and happy and that I can make myself happy,” she said.

Despite her recent, refreshing time alone, Slater and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Mauricio Umansky sparked dating rumors last year when they were seen holding hands after being linked for DWTS.

They put to rest rumors of an October 2023 release, with Umansky stating that they are “not dating”. The couple stayed in touch as friends.

“He’s doing well,” Slater told PEOPLE on the red carpet. “I mean, he’s so busy right now. He came out with Buying Beverly Hills recently, and I think he’s also traveling a lot and just working really, really hard, but he’s doing so well.”

The dancer also opened up about her dream DWTS partner — a Saturday night live alum-turned-romantic lead.

“Well, Andy Samberg,” she revealed. “Yes, because I love a funny man, and I saw him dancing in [movie] called Palm Springsalbeit quite laid back and a bit goofy but it stole my heart and I just love that type of personality.”
