“This is devastating. You’ve been working as an actor as long as I have and acting is a gift… some years are good and some are just trying to piece it together,” he said. “I know we’re collectively going through tough times in this industry, so count your blessings when you’re working. But to get something like this, it’s not something I think about, but it’s especially meaningful to me because my first job in television was hosting Law and order. And it’s a small circle today because as soon as I’m done presenting or presenting those three awards, I have to jump on a plane – I have to jump on a plane to finish directing the episode Law and order. Alex Hall is covering me for the first shoot of the morning, but it’s incredibly meaningful to me and very full circle. Thanks.”

Jamie Lee Curtis delighted the audience with the role of Donna Berzatto bear, and earned an award for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series as a result. Her character is the mother of Carmen, Sugar and Mikey. He struggles with alcoholism and what appears to be borderline personality disorder — something that’s made abundantly clear in the episode “Fish” as Donna prepares Christmas Eve dinner.

Taking to the stage after her name was announced, Curtis, 65, told the crowd: “You know there’s a saying, ‘Hurt people, hurt people,’ but I also think you can add to that and say, ‘Helped people, helped people,’ and I think that’s the story of Bear.”

“I’ve been an actor since I was 19. I’m 65,” she said. “I’ve been selling the yogurt you’re from… for seven years. And never in my life did I think I’d be doing work at this level of depth and complexity and intelligence. And it’s just been the thrill of my creative life these past few years that I’ve been given these opportunities so I’m humbled and incredibly grateful.”

When asked about achieving EGOT status one day, Curtis dismissed the possibility – at least for now.

“Well, I can’t sing at all, and I’ve never actually been on stage. I’ve never done a play, so I can’t imagine,” she replied. “I don’t stay up late… I don’t know if any of you ever paid attention to anything I said, but at my age, about concerts going so late and why can’t Bruce Springsteen do a fucking matinee?”

“So I’m just not sure I’d do that well in theater since you go to bed so late,” she joked. “But you know what? I never thought any of this would even be possible in my lifetime.”
