Engineers Day 2023: National Engineers Day, celebrated on September 15, marks the birth anniversary of engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. He was a civil engineer known for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam. This celebration extends beyond India and has echoes in Sri Lanka and Tanzania. He became famous for his key contribution to solving irrigation problems in India.
India has become the hub of engineering education with around 4500 colleges offering more than 15 lakh seats for Bachelor of Technology annually.
