Southgate, 53, has drawn the ire of sections of England fans.

Reports last night suggested frustrated fans were throwing mugs in his direction.

England have just been booed after another lackluster performance.

Despite the poor performances of the Three Lions, they topped Group C after Denmark failed to beat Serbia in Munich, which also ended 0-0.

As Uefa tries to crack down on fan unrest, England could face a fine for last night’s cup-throwing.

Denmark were yesterday ordered to pay £7,500 after their fans unfurled an anti-Uefa banner during last week’s 1-1 draw with England.

The Three Lions could receive a similar punishment.

After last night’s game, Southgate was asked about the unsavory scenes at the end.

“I haven’t seen any other team qualify and get like that. I’m not going to give it up.”

England will now play either the Netherlands or a team from Group E consisting of Romania, Belgium, Slovakia and Ukraine in the round of 16.

Spain, Germany, Portugal and France were drawn on the other side of the draw – meaning the Three Lions now cannot meet any of them until the final.

On the challenges ahead, Southgate added to ITV: “We have to play well and whoever we play, it will be a very tough game.

“We should not be misled by which half of the draw. So many things started to agree. We had a lot of problems before the tournament.

“I think the way the defense played was a huge positive and something to build on. We created chances, but we just have to take those chances.”
