Eric Braeden has solid advice for men of a certain age.
Daytime Emmy-winning star Young and restless, who shared with his fans in an emotional Facebook Live session in April that he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer, visited Conversation Friday and shared a wise suggestion with his viewers.
After confirming that he is now cancer-free and “doing well,” Braeden, 82, briefly described what brought him to the doctor in the first place.
“Long story short, I ended up seeing a urologist after I couldn’t pee at all,” he said. Turning to the studio audience, he added, “Those of you who are my age, 49…”, a comment that drew laughter from the audience and a smile from himself. He continued, “I can tell you, it’s very painful. I mean, you get scared. Nothing comes out.”

Conversation Co-host Akbar Gbajabiamila leaned over and thanked Braeden for sharing personal information that undoubtedly helps others because “men don’t talk about this.”
Looking at the crowd, Braeden turned serious. “I say to all of you, get a cystoscopy,” he said, referring to a procedure in which a doctor inserts a “hollow tube (cystoscope) equipped with a lens” into the urethra and slowly into the bladder, according to Mayo. Clinic.
Braeden continued. “Get it screened early, so you catch it early. So go ahead! Fight!” he said, punching his hand.
