Everyone sees the cars on the edge of the gorge but you have a high IQ if you can tell what’s really happening

DRIVERS have spotted a deceptive optical illusion placed in the middle of the city’s main street.

The artwork on the road has spooked some drivers – but it’s just an optical illusion.

Drivers flocked to Dysart, Iowa, to witness the deceptive work of art.

“We’re one of the few communities where you come into town and we say, ‘Hey, go stand in the middle of the street,'” Katherine Ollendieck, a business owner in town, told local CBS Iowa affiliate KCCI.

There are two colored dots in the middle of the road in a town with less than 2,000 inhabitants.

The yellow blob says, “Stop here.”

Drivers looking north will see a colorful art installation painted on the road across the street.

“We call this Dysart Gorge,” Mary Snyder Behrens, a local artist, said of the deceptive artwork.

“It’s older than the hills. Da Vinci used that stuff.”

The illusion shows patches of black lines coming drawn southward.

Several pastel colors fill the interior of the lines.

But as the driver’s eye moves further down the picture, the lines merge and the colors dissipate into the black abyss that stretches down the street.

An image is an anamorphic illusion – a visual trick that involves distorting an image or object in such a way that it looks normal when viewed from a certain angle.

Anamorphic illusions are usually characterized by the use of simple shapes that morph or appear stretched.

In Dysart, the illusion makes the cars appear to be falling into a non-existent gorge.

The illusion caused nervousness in the city.

The horse’s owner was nervous about participating in the city’s Independence Day parade, fearing it would spook the animals.

But the horses didn’t notice the design, the television station reported.

Spotting an illusion is not equivalent to an intelligence quotient (IQ) test.
