Everyone sees the leafy scene but you have a high IQ & 20/20 vision if you spot camouflaged frog in less than 10 seconds – The Sun

YOU will be hopping crazy if you don’t spot this amphibian hidden in the reeds.

It is wise enough to hide from hungry turtles, foxes, herons and even pecking raccoons.

But you’ll have to look closely to spot the American frog.

One indication is that it is green and brown.

That pale sounding color allows them to camouflage themselves among the plants growing in the ponds.

And it also helps them hide from predators.

Or look for its large, bulging eyes perched on top of its head.

DRINK INVITATION

Male frogs have a distinctive voice that sounds like they are looking for a drink.

Their “jug-o-rum” croaks ring out as they try to attract a mate and establish territory.

You can often hear them singing in the spring and summer during breeding season, the National Park Service said.

“When the American bullfrog is caught by a predator that wants to eat it, it makes a loud croaking sound to alert other bullfrogs to the predator,” the Alabama Wildlife Federation added.

The fact that they are well camouflaged means that they can also hunt prey.

Cold-blooded frogs like to snuggle up in the creature’s table.

They will happily eat insects, salamanders, small snakes, turtles and even small birds.

CANNIBALS

But if those aren’t readily available, they’ll even start munching on other frogs — because they’re cannibals, AWF said.

Their agile limbs allow them to jump up to 10 times their body length—the equivalent of a six-foot-tall man leaping 60 feet.

And their prey can’t escape easily because the amphibians – which can weigh up to half a kilogram – have four teeth to catch food in their mouths.
