‘Blue Bloods’ returns for Season 14. Here’s everything you need to know about the highly anticipated upcoming season

In the spring of 2023, it was announced that Blue blood has been renewed for season 14.

To date, the series has aired 275 episodes since its premiere in 2010, and focuses on the Reagan family, all of whom have careers in law enforcement and justice. Centered on patriarch Frank Regan, the family constantly struggles with morality, justice, and difficult decisions that sometimes tear them apart.

Starring Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes and Bridget Moynahan, Blue blood became one of the longest-running police procedurals in television history, thanks to its believable and real characters.

When will season 14 Blue blood air?

Soon after Blue blood was renewed in March 2023, the writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood began, halting the production of the vast majority of series and films. The writers’ and actors’ strikes ended in October 2023 and November 2023, respectively.

According to CBS, season 14 will premiere on February 16, 2023. The 18-episode season will be split into two parts.

When season 14 was announced, it was clear that Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez and Vanessa Ray were returning for the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, Treat Williams will not be returning for the new season, as the actor passed away on June 12 after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident. Williams had a recurring role on the show as retired detective turned writer Lenny Ross.

After his death, Williams’ Blue blood costars paid tribute to the actor, with Moynahan telling PEOPLE, “His love and devotion to his family was admirable. We’ve lost a good one, folks. RIP treat.”

The season 13 finale brought back a lot Blue blood characters that have not been seen for a long time. When infamous killer Dr. Walker goes on another killing spree, Danny (Wahlberg) is reunited with Detective Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito), who hasn’t been seen since Season 3 and now lives in a small town. dr. Walker attacks Jackie, but she fends him off, and he ends up running off into the night.

Also in the episode, Erin (Moynahan) brings the abuser to justice after he was previously released, eventually sentencing him to 25 years. After that, she announces to the press that she has decided not to run for prosecutor.

The episode ends with the legendary family dinner that the series is known for, and more familiar faces from previous seasons appear. At the dinner are Danny’s oldest son Jack (Tony Terraciano), who was last seen in the Season 12 premiere, and Erin’s daughter, Nicky (Sami Gayle), who was last seen in Season 11.

Will there be a Blue blood season 15?

Season 14 will be the last season of the series Blue blood.

“For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve New York, but also demonstrates the importance of family,” Selleck said in a statement. “Working with this amazing cast, writers, producers, directors and crew has been a dream come true and I am grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes.”

While speaking with PEOPLE in early 2023, Wahlberg hinted that season 14 could be the last.

“I love it Blue bloodand I think if there wasn’t a 14th season, the loyal fans of the show would be very, very upset,” he said. “If the show went away without [the audience] to have a proper send-off … I think they would be humbled. They are part of the Reagan family.”
