In January 2019, Canún appeared at President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning press conference at the National Palace, where she accused the media of censoring him during the governments of Vicente Fox and Enrique Peña Nieto.
After about four minutes of intervention in the question and answer session, Canun praised the work of the president. When he said: “Mr. President, thanks to you I return to work, not to the people of Mexico, (but) thanks to you ”, he was booed by those present at this press conference.
He used to use the phrase “Hold me the cut” in his shows, and over time it became part of his signature in the media and on social media.
