CBS announced on November 14 that Young Sheldon will return for the seventh and final season in 2024.

Since its premiere in 2017, the series has become a real hit. Although its success was certainly fueled by its parent show, Big Bang Theory, the spin-off prequel series found its own voice and earned a loyal following. CBS has already announced the premiere date and season finale, which will also serve as the series finale.

The seventh season will premiere on February 15, 2024 and will run for 14 episodes until its finale on May 16, 2024. CBS also revealed that Young SheldonThe series finale will last an hour.

In the announcement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said, “We look forward to seeing how their final season unfolds and to cap it off with the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy.”

After hearing the news about the final season, Young Sheldon shared social media posts to mark their time together on set. Armitage wrote on Instagram: “We’re going to make the best season seven we can make – and there’s going to be a lot of laughs and a lot of tears behind the scenes because I love all these people so much.” The title was next to a photo of him and his siblings on the screen.

Potts, who plays Meemaw, shared a cast photo also posted on Instagram, with the caption: “After seven fantastic, hilarious, fulfilling years, ‘Young Sheldon’ will say goodbye. It’s a bittersweet moment.” Potts continued: “I loved every moment of this work and I loved every person who made this wonderful show possible. I was in awe of the talent of my cast mates who feel more like family than colleagues. I am extremely grateful to all the viewers and fans of ‘Young Sheldon’ who made us #1.”

Raegan Revord, who plays Sheldon’s sister Missy, also wrote on Instagram: “I’ll say more later but right now I feel so heartbroken but also so grateful.”

She continued, “Filming these final 14 episodes will be so difficult, but I’m excited to get the chance to share this story with fans and our Young Sheldon family.”

What will season 7 be about?

Right now, it’s too early to say what the final season will be about, but fans are speculating that it could serve as a bridge in between Young Sheldon and events from Big Bang Theory.

Some think that Sheldon might find his way to CalTech in Pasadena (where he would eventually meet Leonard), while others think that something might happen to Sheldon’s father, who dies sometime before the start Big Bang Theory.

It looks like all the main characters will be returning for Season 7 — since nothing happened at the end of Season 6 to suggest otherwise.

Plus, with much of the cast taking to social media about how excited they are to film the new season, it seems clear that everyone will be there.

In the meantime, fans can stream the first six seasons on Max or a Max add-on subscription via Prime Video or Hulu.

The season 6 finale was pretty intense and had a ton of challenges, so you’ll definitely want to watch the season 7 premiere.

In the last episode of the sixth season, Sheldon and his mom board a flight to Germany, where he will spend the summer. But in Texas, a tornado sweeps through their town, leaving Meemaw’s house completely leveled. And since she now runs an illegal casino behind her laundromat – and all her money is stored in her house – she loses everything.

George and Missy also get caught in a tornado while driving home from the Houston airport. They end up hiding in a ditch as the tornado passes right over them. Fortunately, they are not hurt, but their car flips over and they are stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Sheldon’s brother Georgie, meanwhile, is hiding from the tornado with his fiancée and her parents in their bathroom.

Will there be more shows from Big bang franchise after Young Sheldon?

Fortunately for fans, Big bang Co-creator Chuck Lorre is currently in the early stages of creating another spin-off.

According to Diversityproject was originally announced on April 12, 2023 at a Warner Bros. event, and is set to premiere on Max, making it the first streaming-exclusive show in the franchise.

In a November interview with TVLine, Lorre said that the series is still very early in development.

When asked about the project, he replied: “Yes, you don’t talk about childbirth until the second trimester, I believe that’s the rule. That’s a long way of saying no, I don’t have anything to say about it other than it’s something we’re talking about.”
