Exclusive: Call the Midwife star talks reuniting with family after taking break from filming series 13

After taking a break from filming, Jenny Agutter reunited with her Call The Midwife co-stars at the National Television Awards in London. While walking the red carpet alongside Stephen McGann, Laura Main, Daniel Laurie, Heidi Thomas and Rebecca Gethings on Tuesday night, the actress also stopped for an exclusive chat with HELLO!

Opening the 13th season, which is set to premiere in 2024, Jenny teased what’s next. “There are a lot of babies being born and we’re dealing with it,” she explained. “Now we’re halfway through the year and we’re in 1969, so these are interesting times.”

After NTA, Call the midwife The cast is officially back from summer vacation, and it’s always a pleasure for Jenny to catch up with her co-stars on set. After starring in the BBC drama for 11 years, she now considers them more like “family”.

“It’s like coming back to a family you’ve been away from for a while, and then it feels like you weren’t there at all,” Jenny replied. “It’s a very warm feeling. It’s a lovely group of people.”

Jenny also praised her co-star and fan favourite, Judy Parfitt, who picked up a ‘Drama Performance’ nomination at last night’s NTA’s. “She’s so brilliant and I just admire her work and what she’s doing on this,” Jenny said. “She brings something very special and interesting.”

While fans are desperate to return to Nonnatus House, it won’t be long until Call Midwife returns to our screens with its annual Christmas special. Back in May, the show’s Instagram account shared some behind-the-scenes footage from the set, and now that the episode has wrapped, the cast can concentrate on the second half of season 13.

IN Call the midwifeIn the latest post, it was revealed that the stars – who went on summer vacation in July – are returning to character.

Sharing some photos from the NTA, the caption read: “Well we didn’t win the National Television Awards tonight (boo!) but our team had a great night out… and an unexpected reunion!

“On her way to the ceremony, our beloved writer and executive producer Heidi Thomas carried a very sparkly bag…which we can reveal was full of candy for the cast to eat during the awards!! This has become something of a Call the Midwives tradition this evening…!”

It continued: “For many of tonight’s revelers, it’s straight back to work in the morning! Series 13 is moving along at breakneck speed, and those babies aren’t going to deliver themselves.

It caused a huge reaction from fans, with many rushing to comment. “I love you guys regardless of the votes!! I can’t wait for season 13!!” written by one. “You had my vote for best show ever,” added another. Meanwhile, a third wrote: “You all look fantastic! And winners for your millions of fans. Looking forward to season 13!”
