FA Cup semi-final draw labelled ‘most fixed ever’ as Man Utd get dream tie under ‘unprofessional’ new format

FANS have blasted the FA Cup draw as the “most rigged ever” after an “unprofessional” new format was introduced.

Manchester United achieved their dream semi-final against Championship side Coventry, just minutes after an incredible 4-3 comeback win over Liverpool.

Some fans called the FA Cup draw

The second draw pitted holders Manchester City against Chelsea, who beat Leicester 3-2 earlier today.

But some fans were not happy with how the draw was made.

Live on ITV, Ian Wright drew balls in front of Roy Keane and Graeme Souness in the studio.

They remained seated as Wright rummaged through the familiar velvet bag before showing the numbers to the camera.

However, the audience was not told in advance which number refers to which team.

And the casual atmosphere was a far cry from most draws, which tend to take place in a much more formal setting.

Teams were also drawn directly from a bag, rather than first being placed in a hat, as is traditionally the case.

The spectacle led some fans to attack the “unprofessional” new format, while also claiming the draw was the “most rigged ever” due to a lack of transparency around team numbers.

One fan said: “This is the most rigged FA Cup draw I’ve ever seen. So unprofessional.”

Another declared: “The FA Cup draw is the solution! First I didn’t say who has which number.”

One remarked: “Since when have we ever had an FA Cup draw without it being announced beforehand who is which number?”

Another added: “The FA Cup draw was a complete fix, he didn’t tell us the numbers.”

However, none of the fans were able to offer any evidence for their bizarre claims that the draw was fixed and there were no complaints from any of the clubs involved.

TV schedules and kick-off times are yet to be confirmed for the FA Cup semi-finals.

But it will take place on the weekend of April 20 and 21, and the final will be on May 25.
