Fake toll in Gujarat for 1.5 years
According to a report, a group of people running a fake toll booth on the Bamanbore-Kutch National Highway in Gujarat’s Morbi district cheated several policemen, commuters and government officials for around 1.5 years. The fictitious toll collection point was located on private property. For a continuous period of one-and-a-half years, it was used to charge tolls at half the normal rate in an attempt to dupe high-ranking district government officials, local police forces and civilians. According to the study, for more than a year, private landowners in Morbi have been duping all travelers for hundreds of rupees every day.
In an interview with the district collector in the area, GT Pandya stated that the administration has come to know that certain cars are plying outside the official route of Varghasia toll plaza to collect toll. He said that after filing a detailed report in this regard, the police and other officials reached the fictitious location of the toll plaza to begin investigation. Violators were found to have diverted traffic from the planned route by using property owned by the now-defunct White House Ceramic Company.
According to reports. Amarshi Patel, owner of the factory, and four other persons Harivjay Singh Jhala, Yuvraj Singh Jhala, Vanraj Singh Jhala and Dharmendra Singh Jhala were named in the complaint filed by the police. The event came months after the man was accused of embezzling more than 4 crores of public funds and setting up a fake government office in the state for more than three years.
