Famous fast-food chain to close ALL its restaurants in UK as brand folds – is one going near you?

A FAMOUS fast food chain has announced that it is to close all its branches across the UK.

Britain’s “grossest restaurant” collapsed after its parent company, Viral Ventures UK, reportedly racked up more than £400,000 in debt.

Karen’s Diner, where the staff is deliberately rude to customers, went viral in 2022 after a video surfaced of a waiter calling a customer a pedophile in front of his 14-year-old daughter.

He has since continued to gain popularity on TikTok, with some calling his controversial approach “hilarious” while others claimed they were “body-shamed”.

Celebrities from Kerry Katon to Davina McCall have visited the restaurant, where staff hurl insults like “don’t come back” and hand out hats to women saying “I spent my child support on a ‘girls night’.”

Liquidators Jeremy Frost and Patrick Wadsted confirmed the chain has 77 employees to be made redundant.

They added that there are also 2,500 customers who have paid for events that are “now highly unlikely to take place”.

This includes a summer pop-up tour, originally planned to take place between June and September across the country.

Mr Frost said: “It is always a challenging time when a company, particularly one with the reach of Viral Ventures, is forced into liquidation.

“We understand the disappointment and concern, especially for those who have deposits for upcoming performances.

“Our priority is to guide those affected through this process and ensure the necessary steps are taken.”

The statement comes as angry customers demand their money back for canceled events.

One woman, who turned up at the event in Plymouth, wrote on Trustpilot: “I went to the venue and after asking a few hotel staff we were told that Karen’s Diner had canceled the event.

“Did they tell us? Of course they didn’t.

“Did they offer a refund? Of course not. Now I’m going to fight for a refund and continue with this. How is this even allowed?”

  4. The London Angel
  5. Manchester

The group has set up a dedicated website to support its customers, creditors and employees, and has advised those seeking refunds to contact their banks.

The brand was plagued by controversy for a while, and people did not take kindly to the staff’s insults.

In response to a TikTok video in which an eight-year-old girl was explicitly insulted, one user wrote: “Disgusting, joke or no joke that’s not funny.”

Another added: “She’s 8!!!! That’s not a joke at that age. Words hurt. Why would any parent let their child be humiliated like that!”

News of the closure of Karen’s Diner comes as the company that owns TGI Fridays also enters administration.

This puts the future of the restaurant chain in question, with 87 locations put up for sale.
