Fans have same reaction to ‘gripping’ series finale of The Tower

ITV’s The Tower, starring Gemma Whelan and Jimmy Akingbola, aired its fourth and final episode on Thursday night, with the finale proving a huge hit with viewers at home.

Many took to social media to give their thoughts on the drama – which centered on the unsolved case of a schoolgirl who went missing before being found dead 27 years ago – with fans saying the same thing about how “stunning” the episode was. The fourth, meanwhile, was unwavering as the second season overtook the first. They wrote: “The first was good but the second topped it. Second series of Tower saw Game of Thrones actress Gemma Whelan return as DS Sarah Collins to work on another shocking but exciting case. As explained in the synopsis: “The antagonistic relationship between seasoned Sarah Collins and rookie cop Lizzie Adam is at the heart of The Tower 2, as they are forced to work together for the first time and begin to gain a sense of each other’s unique strengths.”

Who is in the cast of the Tower?

In addition to Gemma Whelan, Jimmy Akingbola is back as DC Steve Bradshaw. Also in the cast is Emmett J Scanlan as Inspector Kieran Shaw. Also appearing is Tahirah Sharif, who plays PC Lizzie Adam. Tahirah was even nominated for a BAFTA for her role as a young policewoman.

Will there be a third series of Towers?

That! ITV has already confirmed that there will be a third series Tower is happening and is already in production. The third part will be adapted from Kate London’s third novel, Gallowstreet Lane.

Screenwriter Patrick Harbinson said in a statement: “Gallowstreet Lane has a high-stakes drug and gang story with Jimmy and Emmett’s characters taking the lead roles. Sarah and Lizzie also have exciting and heartbreaking stories, while the Portland Tower drama comes full circle.” I firmly believe that the third series will be our best yet.”
