The “little” teenager, Sophie, is the daughter of their “best friends” Jamie and Rebecca Walker, and the brilliant offspring decided to help as much as possible to raise money for her treatment abroad.

According to Sophie’s mum, Rebecca, her child has been “battling Wilms’ tumor since she was 10 years old”.

Now aged 16, having “faced a series of unfortunate events with her treatments”, and sadly the NHS insisted there was “not much hope”, the mum has bravely set up a GoFundMe, where you can donate here.

After a desperate search, the family turned to a number of clinics around the world and were recently told “of a very promising procedure that will still be curative for Sophie”.

After the news, the Radfords banded together, devising ways to raise money – whether it was 11-year-old Casper selling his toys or a boot sale of items from their ten-bed Lancashire estate.

“It was definitely nice that all the kids could pitch in to help Sophie,” mum Sue told Channel 5’s hit series 22 Kids And Counting last night.

“I think the thing about a big family is that everyone just wants to pitch in and help others.”

“Yes, from the older ones to the younger ones, every one of them just wants to help,” added Noel.

Since it aired, the episode has pulled “heartstrings”, leaving fans of the family heartbroken.

With thousands racing to donate as much as they could, dozens praised the great offspring for standing up and helping their close friends.

One fan commented on their post on Instagram, writing: “A beautiful family, always willing to help others.”

Another was moved to tears, writing: “Followed Sophie’s journey, such a beautiful young lady.”

“Well done Casper, I hope Sophie gets all the money she needs,” someone else wrote.

“Such caring, compassionate children,” a fourth praised the children.

“You are a real inspiration Sophie. All of Scotland is behind you and with you all the way. You can kick crabs in the butt,” one fan wrote.

“Just watched 22 kids and counting, hope this works for you,” someone else shared the good-natured message.

Following the devastating news, the Radfords also shared a link to a GoFundMe page on their Instagram story.

Sophie has to undergo treatment which involves receiving vitamin C through a cannula twice a week.

The benefits of this procedure for cancer patients are still not 100 percent proven – but her parents have openly praised its effects.

The Walkers, who live in Edinburgh and have nine children, have been good friends with the great brood for some time as they are bound by a large family.

They said: “This is the last chance for our daughter’s life and we are absolutely at our mercy.”
