Azmi is also actively involved in politics. He contested the 2010 Legislative Assembly by-election from Bhiwandi (East) constituency as a Samajwadi Party member. Farhan lost the election to Shiv Sena candidate Rupesh Mhatre. In 2014, he became the state president of the Yuva branch of the Samajwadi Party. Azmi works on various projects to empower youth, fight for women’s safety, address various environmental issues, meet the needs of underprivileged children and combat religious discrimination. He even contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from North Mumbai constituency but lost. In January 2018, Farhan resigned as chairman of the Yuva branch of the Samajwadi Party, but continued to serve the party.

Apparently, he revealed his net worth of Rs. 160 million was collected during the Bhiwandi by-election in 2010, which was later increased to Rs. When he contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he got Rs 64 crore.
  • Farhan is also embroiled in a legal dispute with his business partner Kashiff Khan over their restaurant ‘Koyla’. Khan accused Azmi of misappropriating funds originally invested in the business, while Farhan lodged a complaint against him for sending goons to his Bandra restaurant.
