Excitement was high ahead of Oasis’ Liam Gallagher’s special pre-fight show.

And there were many exciting fights that could be enjoyed on a stacked surface.

But one battle was cut short after fans were plunged into darkness.

The moment happened during an exciting light heavyweight fight between Joshua Buatsi and Willy Hutchinson.

Both of them delivered incredible blows in their bout.

But their rivals were left peering in the dark after the Wembley lights went out during the eighth round.

The fans gasped as Buatsi and Hutchinson looked around blindly.

And after what seemed like an eternity, the lights finally came back on after a few seconds of darkness.

But the judge felt it was not right to continue until the problem was resolved.

And he ordered a halt to proceedings that lasted several minutes before giving the go-ahead for a restart.

Round by round: How Dubois demolished Joshua

ANTHONY JOSHUA bravely picked himself up off the floor against Daniel Dubois – until he couldn’t anymore.

Dubois hit AJ four times in five rounds before a fierce counter ended the show in dramatic fashion.

Here SunSport’s Jack Figg takes you round by round from the war at Wembley.

1ST ROUND

Dubois comes out sharp with a jab as Joshua bounces around struggling to deal with a jab left.

A huge right hand from Dubois sent AJ staggering backwards with his hands too low from the opening bell.

Joshua had to pay for the mistake as he circled with his hands down and was dropped over the right.

2ND ROUND

Joshua – saved only by the bell after falling to the floor – struggles to move as he takes a shot to the face.

AJ staggers and staggers around the ring with a dangerously low guard again and tempting pressure.

Joshua tries to get back into the fight, but his jab looks too lazy – he doesn’t look like he’s recovered from the knockdown.

3rd ROUND

AJ comes out with more intent, but swings wildly with a right and only connects with some air.

Dubois turns up the pressure and kicks Joshua into the corner scoring another takedown.

The bell rings, but Dubois lands a one or two after that – again AJ saves the clock as the writing looks on the wall.

4TH ROUND

Disaster strikes again with Joshua falling to the floor again – losing his balance as he touched the canvas.

The ref gives AJ another fighting chance and Dubois lands a low blow – giving the challenger some valuable respite.

Dubois slows down as the four rounds draw to a close and Joshua shows sensational resilience to hang on.

5TH ROUND

Joshua lands a huge right hand and Dubois’ legs buckle – it looks like a stunning reversal is about to happen.

AJ pins Dubois against the ropes and tries one of his signature uppercuts, but a counter right hand lands first.

Joshua is caught flat on the chin, once again he is dropped and this time for good. Dubois scores an incredible knockout victory.

Fortunately for the fans, the exciting fight went the distance after 12 rounds of big hits.

And it was Buatsi who won on points in a controversial split decision, after dropping Hutchinson twice – who was also docked a point.

The bad blood started between the light-heavyweight pair back in June when one too many taunts from the Scottish Traveler spurred JB into action.

The 31-year-old pounced and grabbed Hutchinson by the throat – the man nicknamed Just Business made it personal.

And at Wembley he got his revenge in a split decision – with one maniacal referee in need of sacking – after he twice punched his nemesis.

The judges called the fierce slugfest 113-112 crazy for Hutchinson and fortunately 117-108 and 115-110 for JB.

The opener was technical and smart, until the bell rang and Hutchinson hit the final shot over Buatsi’s guard just as he brought him down to make the break.

The second stanza heralded the first significant blow, when Buatsi landed an overhand right hand that found the Scot’s face.

But – in his biggest breakthrough yet – Hutchinson held his nerve and his feet and managed to get out of trouble.

It’s been three days since the Saudi medical group’s brand was illuminated around Wembley Stadium, as a token of appreciation for their sponsorship.

The fight finally ignited right at the end of the sixth, Buatsi landed a skull-shaking right hand and bounced his prey off the ropes twice.

The Croydon savage then went downstairs and beat his trunk until Hutchinson bent down on the deck and rose bravely at eight, just as the bell rang.

Hutchinson recovered his composure in the seventh round and appeared to have Buatsi in trouble, but the unbeaten London just tucked in and caught a volley on his hands and gloves and smiled as he emerged from the armor unscathed.

Then, right at the bell, that right honey punch clipped Hutchinson’s mustache once again.

Hutchinson was on fire throughout the eighth round, but it was only the stadium lights that were knocked out for a second.

Things got even bleaker for Hutchinson at the end of the ninth round when his engine gave out and he folded for the second time.

Buatsi was hitting high and low and it was safer for the beaten man to take a breather.

To his credit, Hutchinson continued to go well and came back refreshed, landing a decent left hook in the tenth, but Buatsi looked impenetrable and Hutch cruised into the championship round without a hitch.

Hutch Train huffed and puffed until the final bell, but Buatsi was always in a different class and raced to victory.

Despite one referee needing the boot immediately because he thought Buatsi had lost.
