Fitness influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar has died three months after being shot during a robbery. He was 43 years old.

Aguilar’s fitness brand, Self Made Training Facility, revealed the news of his death in an Instagram post on Saturday, December 21.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar,” read the post’s caption. “After a courageous three-month battle following a tragic incident on September 13, 2024, Miguel passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.”

“Miguel was more than just a leader,” the statement continued. “He was a visionary, inspiration, mentor, father, husband, family and dear friend to many. His unwavering commitment to his self-created fitness center, his passion for the fitness industry and his entrepreneurial spirit have left a lasting legacy.”

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers were called to Thurston Circle in Bel-Air around 4:30 p.m. local time on September 13.

Four suspects “approached the victim and demanded her property,” Officer Kevin Terzes told PEOPLE at the time, adding, “One suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking the victim.”

Terzes said the suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.
