A timeline of Elton John and David Furnish’s relationship

“We don’t feel the need to take that extra step in a legal sense. But because we’re committed for life, we feel it’s really important to take that step and take advantage of this incredible change in legislation. We’re all living by example,” Furnish said Las Vegas Review Journal at the time, revealing plans to keep the wedding small.

Elton John’s husband has revealed why they chose not to homeschool their two sons – unlike other famous parents
Ivana, who was honored this year as TimeIcon of the year, he has two sons with David: Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11. In an interview with the publication, he reflected on how the role of a father is the most important to him.
“All I want to say on my tombstone is, ‘He was a great father,'” John told the publication while speaking alongside Furnish.
He shared a similar sentiment while talking to Good morning America‘s Robin Roberts earlier in December.
“My music speaks for itself,” he said. “My legacy is that I was a great husband and an even better father. … Music, career are fantastic. It was fantastic, revolutionary. But the most important thing in my life is to make sure my children are happy, have a wonderful life and that I was good to them, that’s all that counts.”
Elsewhere during their joint conversation with TimeFurnish detailed why the couple decided not to homeschool their two sons.
“We purposely did not homeschool our children because we want them to be their own people and define life the way they want to be defined,” he explained.
