Lisa Kudrow says she was “happy” to be cast in Friends.
In a new interview with Today.com, the 61-year-old actress reflected on her time on the beloved NBC sitcom β which ran for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004 β and how it shaped the trajectory of her career.
The show’s massive appeal is undoubtedly due to the chemistry of its charismatic stars: Kudrow as Phoebe, David Schwimmer as Ross, Jennifer Aniston as Rachel, Courteney Cox as Monica, Matthew Perry as Chandler and Matt LeBlanc as Joey. The group had a special bond both on and off the set, Kudrow said.
“We loved each other,” she told Today.com. “Going to work every day was heaven. It was too good to be true, but it really was.”
In its long term, Friends earned six Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Kudrow in 1998. Considered one of the most popular TV shows of all time, the sitcom continues to rediscover itself today and win the hearts of new viewers who catch reruns on TBS or stream to Max. For Kudrow, it’s the gift that keeps on giving β and the role of a lifetime.

“I won the lottery Friendsβ, Kudrow told the newspaper. “All else I had to do was the frosting.”
She said being on the massively successful show was “above and beyond” anything she could have hoped for, paving the way for a career she calls “lucky”, “privileged” and “fortunate”.
βAll I ever wanted to do was be able to support myself as an actor. That was the goal – she said. “Not only that, but I was working with people I loved.”
The series also opened many doors for Kudrow, including the opportunity to pursue her own projects, such as Showtime’s Web therapytwo seasons of the HBO mockumentary Return and Who do you think you are?an emotional documentary about ancestors produced by Kudrow that features famous celebrities who go on road trips to trace their family tree.

“Because I was involved FriendsI had to create my own shows that didn’t have to be as big as Friendsso i could do something like Return or Web therapyand it was really fulfilling,β she told Today.com.
In her latest acting role, Kudrow stars opposite Ray Romano in the Netflix series There is no good deeda dark comedy that follows three very different families as they try to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style mansion that they think will solve all their problems.
The two actors, who play the married couple Lydia and Paul Morgan in the series, are both legends of the 90s sitcom. Romano, 67, famously starred in Everyone loves Raymond. Couple enjoyed bonding on set There is no good deed.

During a recent exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Kudrow and Romano revealed that they had an instant chemistry with each other while working on the show.
“[It] He was just there,” Kudrow said, while Romano added, “You’re lucky, and as two actors sometimes you just have that chemistry. And I think we got that right away.”
“Lisa wasn’t cast when I applied, and I was drawn to it because the writing was great, the people involved were great,” Romano noted. “And when they told me that Lisa was on board, I was scared just because I’m insecure. But then it all worked out.”
Added Kudrow, “I knew my husband was going to be Ray Romano and I always wanted to work with Ray and I just didn’t think it would ever happen. It was like, well, it’s like a dream come true. And Linda Cardellini, I also knew, there was no way I could say no.”
