A video released by South Yorkshire Police shows an officer trying to encourage the woman to get out of the car.

He takes her wrist first, before removing her feet from the footwell of the car.

The driver can be heard saying “okay, give me a second”, before a concerned officer replies: “No, come on, we’re in the middle of the freeway.”

After trying to get up, the woman collapses on the road, while the policeman and another man try to move her out of the way, each holding one of her arms.

He then anxiously calls for backup, saying, “We’re practically in a live track here and I can’t get her off the floor.”

After being told to “get up”, the woman says “shut up”, before saying “I can’t get up”.

Later in the video, the officer asks for a breath sample from the woman, before she can be heard sobbing.

The 39-year-old woman was charged and appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday.

Dramatic moment: Drunk driver crashes into Prime Minister’s country table, causing £40,000 damage

Acting Roads Inspector General Brandon Brown said: “One in six fatal crashes involves a drink driver.

“The decision to get behind the wheel after drinking can be fatal.

“As experienced road traffic officers, unfortunately we have had to be the person to deliver the devastating news that a loved one has died, approaching a house with Christmas lights and cheer brings even more darkness upon you.

“We can’t be everywhere; everyone has a responsibility. If you’re going out and planning to have a drink, make a plan – and leave the car at home.”

It came after another drink driver was filmed crashing into the Prime Minister’s country house – causing £40,000 of damage in October.

Matthew Wootten strode purposefully towards the front door of the 16th-century Checkers mansion near Ellesborough, Buckinghamshire.

The footage shows his Volkswagen Scirocco smashing through 80-year-old iron fences – causing them to fly into the air.

Wootten then crashes into posts as smoke billows from his crumpled bonnet – causing almost £40,000 worth of damage.

A white car from the 90s was left damaged at the property given to the prime minister as their official country residence.

Wootten was arrested with several cans of alcohol discovered inside the wreckage.

During the test, it turned out that he was driving under the influence of alcohol almost three times over the legal limit.
