Five motorcyclists killed in two horror crashes 35 minutes apart outside the same town – as 3 also rushed to hospital

FIVE motorcyclists have died in two separate horrific crashes just minutes apart – and near the same town.

Three cyclists – all men in their 50s – died after the first crash on the A53 near Buxton in Derbyshire at around 9.45am on Sunday.

The driver of the van and two people from the car were taken to the hospital.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The second fatal crash happened at around 10.20am on the A6, also in the Buxton area.

The crash, which happened near Tom Thorn, involved two motorcycles and a car.

Police said the two motorcyclists, both men in their 20s, were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Their families are aware and our thoughts are with them at this time,” Derbyshire Police said in a statement.

Officers are asking the public to send footage of both incidents.

After the first incident, officers said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage.

Social media users expressed their condolences after two separate accidents.

Diane Mitchell wrote on Facebook: “Oh so very sad 5 people died today. My thoughts are with all the families.”

Charlie Staniforth said: “Terrible news, our thoughts go out to everyone involved, especially the families and all the emergency services who have to deal with incidents like this, they are all human and deserve our respect.”

Lisa Youd wrote: “Absolute tragedy. Condolences to all their families and friends.”
