Johnson grew up in Savannah, Georgia, where she was born. She was born on November 3, 2003. She was born to father Jason Johnson and mother Kia Jones, and she also has a brother named Yadon Moultrie.

In May 2003, her father, rapper Camoflauge, was shot and killed in an unsolved case about six months before she was born.

Talking about her education, she was a basketball player at Marietta, Georgia’s Sprayberry High School. Johnson was the only player on her baseball team growing up and pitching.
Johnson was named Region 6-6A Player of the Year as a senior and finished her career as her school’s leading scorer.
She participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game and won the Jordan Brand Classic Most Valuable Player Award after scoring 27 points. Johnson was also the only girl to play in the Iverson Classic. Sprayberry retired her number, making her the first woman to receive the award. She is currently a student at LUS.

In 2018, Flau’jae performed her original song “Guns Down” during her audition for America’s Got Talent. The song was about gun violence and was inspired by the death of her father. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B and Heidi Klum all cast yes votes, sending Flau’jae to the Judge Cuts.
In his performance of Judge Cuts, Flau’jae raps a rendition of his original song, “I Can’t Lose”. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and guest judge Chris Hardwick gave her a standing ovation.
Chris won the Golden Buzzer after seeing Flau’jae play well, putting her straight through to the quarter-finals. During her quarterfinal performance in week one, Flau’jae rapped over her original song “Letdown”. She received standing ovations from Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel.
She was eliminated from the competition along with The PAC Dance Team instead of We Three because she did not get enough votes to advance to the semi-finals.
