Flavor Flav Reveals His Favorite Taylor Swift Song and Compares Her Writing Style to Mary J. Blige

Flavor Flav is such a huge fan of Taylor Swift that he’s declared himself the “Swiftie King!”

The Public Enemy member, 64, opened up about his love for the pop superstar, 34, in a new interview with HOT 97’s Ebro In the morning. On the radio show, the rap legend not only shared his favorite Swift song, but explained why he deeply appreciates her songwriting.

The The taste of love star first mentioned Swift in an interview when talking about attending Sunday’s Golden Globes, where the pop star’s concert film was nominated for a film and cinematographic achievement award. “Yeah, I’m Swiftie,” Flavor Flav said. “Not only that, but now I have a new name: King Swiftie.”

As for the song from the “Karma” singer’s discography that King Swiftie can’t get enough of? “My favorite record she wrote is ‘Bad Blood,'” Flav revealed.

Although he said he enjoyed the remix with Kendrick Lamar, Flav admitted that he especially likes the solo version. “I mean, it is [about] everybody’s relationships, or everybody’s family, or everybody’s friendships, it’s like, you know, ‘I used to be a good friend, now you’ve done something to me, now we’ve got bad blood, look what you’ve done!'” he explained enthusiastically.

The musician/TV personality also told hosts Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez that he entered the Midnight artist after taking his girlfriend and her kids on the Eras Tour to Detroit, Michigan in June. “I went home, really, and I started listening to Taylor,” he said. “I listen to her music and I’m like, ‘Whoa, this girl is stupid!’

Flav said he was particularly struck by how much her songwriting reminded him of fellow musician Mary J. Blige. “He writes a lot about his, you know, experiences he goes through in life. Just like Mary J. Blige – you know what I’m saying?,” he said. “Mary writes about her experiences that she goes through in life, and then when she gets on that stage and sings those songs, pretty much every woman in that audience connects with Mary.”

The “Fight the Power” rapper’s recent radio interview is hardly the first time he’s revealed just how much of a Swiftie he is. After attending the Detroit stop on the singer-songwriter’s career-spanning tour, he took a second look at the show in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium.
