Florence Pugh Arrives in Classic Pastel Pink Ballgown at the TIFF We Live in Time Red Carpet

Florence Pugh knows how to rule the red carpet.

The Don’t worry dear The 28-year-old star strutted down the red carpet at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, where she attended the premiere of her latest film We live in time on Friday, September 6.

For the red carpet, Pugh wore a striking ball gown by Tamara Ralph with a full skirt. The pastel pink satin dress included ruffled effects over a wide skirt.

The bodice of the dress was made of a fitted pleated look draped in a criss-cross design, accentuating her waist. The neckline included a plunging sweetheart neckline with a black leather bow and matching rose attached in the center.

For the Oscar nominee’s glamorous look, she looked to OId-Hollywood for inspiration, wearing her bob in a sophisticated, sleek style with subtle curls. Covered in pale pink eyeshadow, her make-up was kept simple and shimmery, with subtle cat-eye liner and pink lip gloss.

As for accessories, Pugh only wore a pair of dangling diamond earrings and a silver septum ring.

In the new film, Pugh stars alongside Andrew Garfield as Almut to his Tobias. “Almut and Tobias are brought together in a surprising meeting that changes their lives,” reads the official synopsis of the film. “As they embark on a journey challenged by the constraints of time, they learn to appreciate every moment of the unconventional route their love story took, in director John Crowley’s deeply moving romance that spans decades.”

Pugh shaved her head for the film to embody her character, who was diagnosed with cancer. She opened up about her decision to do so in an interview with Vanity Fair published on September 5.

She told the outlet that Crowley told her that wigs and other hairpieces were an option — but she was adamant about fully committing to her character’s real-life transformation journey.

“I just stopped him in mid-sentence and said, ‘John, nobody can play a character like this in a movie like this without doing what’s necessary,'” she said. “And if you don’t want to do that, I believe you shouldn’t be doing this kind of story.”

“I think there was some weird rumor going around on the Internet that I did it to reclaim my identity,” Pugh recalled of the reading, though she had never in her “entire life” claimed any such statement.

Pugh first showed off her shaved head at the 2023 Met Gala, where she wore a white Valentino dress and a dramatic headpiece. Her plunging white gown had a massive train and a headpiece topped off the entire look. She walked the famous stairs with the creative director of the house at the time, Pierpaolo Piccioli.
