Florence Pugh Goes Braless in Punk Bride-Inspired Look at the ELLE Style Awards

Florence Pugh made a bold statement with her latest red carpet look.

The Oppenheimer The 27-year-old star attended the ELLE Style Awards 2023 in London on Tuesday, wearing a chic wedding-inspired ensemble – but with a twist. Pugh opted to go braless under a delicate sheer mesh and lace Alexander McQueen halter dress.

Her current hairstyle — a spiky platinum blonde pixie — and a nose ring also added a punk-rock edge to her look. Pugh accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including a pair of pearl earrings and a pearl ring, and added a pop of color with her blue manicure.

This is hardly the first time Little woman the star dared to go without a bra in such a clean look. In July 2022, she appeared at the Valentino Haute Couture fashion show in Rome wearing a hot pink tulle dress with her nipples visible underneath.

She joked about her revealing outfit in an Instagram post at the time, writing: “They’re technically covered?” along with some close-up photos in the dress. She added the hashtag “#f—-ingfreethef—-ingnipple.”

However, after posting several critical comments, Pugh posted another post the next day, defending the bold look. “Look, when I wore that amazing Valentine’s dress, I knew there was no way it wouldn’t get commented on. Whether it was negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing,” she wrote.

Pugh clapped back at men who think it’s acceptable for women to be body-shamed. “What was interesting to watch and witness was how easy it is for men to completely destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for all to see. You even do it with your jobs and business emails on your resume,” she continued. .

“It’s not the first and it certainly won’t be the last time a woman hears what’s wrong with her body from a bunch of strangers – what’s worrying is how vulgar some of you men can be.”

She then stated that she confidently accepts “all the flaws” and “intricacies of my body that make me who I am me.”

“So many of you aggressively wanted to let me know how disappointed you were by my ‘tiny tits’ or how I should be ashamed of being so ‘flat-chested’. I lived in my body for a long time. I am fully aware of the size of my breasts and I am not afraid of it – she said.

Pugh recently spoke again about the polarizing dress in an interview with ELLEin the October 2023 issue, with which she declared that she was glad to see a new era of women who decided to silence the noise and reject body criticism.

“When it all went down with the Valentino pink dress a year ago, my nipples were visible through a piece of fabric, and it really upset people,” she told the magazine. “People are afraid of freedom; the fact that I am comfortable and happy. Holding women back by commenting on their bodies has worked for a very long time. I think we’re in this swing right now where a lot of people are saying, ‘My body hurts…’. ”

“Unfortunately, we’re so terrified of the human body that we can’t even look at my two sweet little nipples behind the fabric in a non-sexual way. We have to keep reminding everyone that there is more than one reason for women’s bodies [to exist]”, added the Oscar nominee.
