Former Fifth Harmony Members Show Support for Normani as She Announces Debut Solo Album Dopamine: ‘There She Is’

All of Fifth Harmony tells Normani, “That’s my girl”!

After teasing the album for years, Normani (27) officially announced her debut studio album dopamine by sharing the cover art and the 2024 release date on Instagram on Thursday. The news really excited fans who have been clamoring for more music since 2019’s smash hit “Motivation” — as well as her former bandmates 5H.

Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane showed their support for the R&B star and her solo endeavors by leaving sweet comments on her Instagram post dopamine album cover, which shows the singer on top of a black rocket ship in a leather bikini.

“Let’s go 🔥,” answered Jauregui, 27.

Jane, 26, also wrote, “here’s 🥹🔥🔥.”

Cabello, 26, and Brooke, 30, meanwhile added a series of emojis — responding with a few rocket emoticons and hearts, as well as clapping their hands.

The members of Fifth Harmony, who broke up in 2018 and have gone on to release their own solo projects, were among many famous friends who expressed their support for the “Wild Side” singer. Fellow hitmakers like Jordin Sparks, Victoria Monét, JoJo and many more also left thoughtful comments.

Normani officially announced her long-awaited solo debut on social media last week, sharing a chic but sultry album cover and an image with a title and date left blank, save for 2024, to suggest she’s coming out soon.

When she released the album cover, she wrote in the caption, “crying I write this rn. DOPAMINE ALBUM.”

The singer/dancer also teased the upcoming release and gave a playful nod to announcing she was working on a solo debut nearly six years ago with a post on X (formerly Twitter). Citing a post she made in June 2018 that read, “I have my album title,” she simply left a link to wheresthedamnalbum.com, which includes a 2024 date and links to save the new project.

Normani has also since shared a clip of an unreleased, new track. Although she didn’t reveal the title of the song or the release date, she released some sexy verses in which she sings with a smooth rhythm. “When I get you alone / Boy whatchu gon’ do / With it / Don’t talk too much just do this s— / Boy whatchu gon’ do / With it / When I get you alone,” sings over the R&B song inspired by the 90s.

Shortly after Worth It went on hiatus in 2018, following Cabello’s departure from the band in 2016, Normani began teasing solo music. She dropped several collaborations, including Khalid’s “Love Lies” and the Sam Smith team’s “Dancing with a Stranger,” before delighting fans with her solo trajectory when she released her Y2K R&B-inspired “Motivation.”

There have been few updates on the status of her album since then, but she has released a few more tracks: 2021’s “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B and 2022’s “Fair.”

In an interview with Who What Wear in February, the singer opened up about her creative journey dopamine and how her mother Andrea Hamilton and father Derrick Hamilton’s recent cancer diagnoses and treatments have affected her.

“Honestly, music got them through the cancer treatment. I remember being on FaceTime with my mom while she was going through chemo and she was like, ‘How’s it going in the studio today? How’s the music going?'” Normani recalled.

She continued: “As hard as it was for me not to be with them as much as I wanted to, in the end pushing through made the circumstances of the last few years a little easier for my parents.”

The “Fer” singer also talked about how the difficult experience affected her goals as an artist. She said, “It was in those moments with my parents that I realized I had an opportunity to make an impact in this life.”
