FORMER football player Raphael Dwamena died at the age of 28.
The striker from Ghana was playing in the Albanian Super League for KF Egnatia when he collapsed on the pitch on Saturday.

His club announced on social media that the player died, despite all the efforts of the medical team on the field.
The incident happened in the 23rd minute of the match between Egnatia and Partizani from Tirana.
Understandably, the match was stopped at 1-1.
Reports say the player was rushed to the nearest hospital in Kavaja.
However, he was pronounced dead shortly after suffering another heart attack while receiving treatment.
Dwamena made nine appearances for his country and scored two goals.
In 2017, it was discovered that he had a heart defect and suffered from numerous heart problems.
In 2021, he was implanted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator after he collapsed at the Austrian Cup match.
Dwamena played for Levante in La Liga. After learning about his sad death, the club released a statement.
They wrote on social media: “On behalf of #LevanteUD, we would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of our former player, Raphael Dwamena. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. His legacy on our club will always endure. RIP.”
The Ghana Football Association also released a statement.
It read: “Our thoughts are with Raphael Dwamena’s family at this difficult time. Raphael represented Ghana wholeheartedly and did his duty to the country until his unfortunate death. He will be forever missed for his dedication to National Coarse.”
