Former University of Oregon football player arrested after completing his first season of college football, Oregon Live Eugene registry keeper and KEZI report 9.
Oregon Ducks wide receiver Ryan Pellum (real name Ryan Tristan Chance Taylor) was arrested in Springfield, Ore., on a national extradition warrant from his hometown of Long Beach, Calif., according to court documents, according to KEZI 9.
Taylor, 19, is accused of “pistol whipping” a person in California on Christmas Day, according to KEZI 9. He allegedly injured the victim’s head, which required stitches. Taylor then allegedly fired two shots in an “unknown direction,” according to court documents. Register-keeper reports.
On Wednesday, January 8, Eugene police found Taylor at an apartment in Springfield. He reportedly told authorities he was aware of the California warrant, but made no further comment, according to court records. Register-keeper reports.
Taylor was taken to the Lane County Jail. On Thursday, Jan. 9, an unknown person posted bail for an undisclosed amount after Taylor waived extradition. California has until Jan. 23 to pick him up to appear in court there.

A few days before his arrest, on Monday, January 6, Taylor entered the transfer portal after his first season with the Oregon Ducks. He was a four-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class and graduated from Millikan High School in Long Beach, California. Taylor originally agreed to join the USC Trojans, then transferred to the University of Oregon, where he played four games.
“A university spokesperson said Taylor is no longer enrolled at the school and is no longer a member of the Ducks,” KEZI reported.

A representative for the city of Long Beach did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Friday.
