The Up singer explained how the growth was found during an MRI scan for her headaches and she struggled to “keep it together” while she awaited the results.
She said: “Because I suffer from headaches, I recently had an MRI and they accidentally found something on my neck so I had to have another MRI.
“It turned out to be a tumor, which is benign, it doesn’t need to be treated, it’s completely fine, but in those first week when the doctor called me to tell me the result of the magnetic resonance imaging, I was alone. “
Immediately I just thought, ‘This is it, this is my time’

She continued: “I was in the middle of cooking dinner for the boys and he said, ‘Oh, we found a tumor. I don’t want to say what it is yet because I don’t know. I’m going to have to present it to a board of other experts.’
“I immediately just thought, ‘This is it, this is my time. I’m going to be sick or I’m going to…’ you know, I immediately said, ‘God, I’m going to die,’ and I had to kind of hold it together for the boys.
“Fortunately for me, the outcome was, ‘It’s just really rare, it’s really unfortunate, we only came across it because we were scanning for headaches and it’s going to be something we’ll have to monitor.’
“But that week when I didn’t tell the kids, I didn’t tell my friends or anything like that, I think I kind of pushed through the week, I didn’t really understand anything.”
The Essex native also opened up about her mum’s battle with breast cancer on today’s show, which she has now recovered from.
Reflecting on her diagnosis, she said: “I was actually on a school run. She tried to call me and because I had picked up the boys I ignored it, so my dad texted me: ‘You need to answer your mum’s phone.’

“It was a shock and I couldn’t recognize it properly because the boys got into the car and I was trying to hold back the tears.”
The panel spoke about fear for the king’s health.
Buckingham Palace released a statement at 6pm on Monday evening announcing that he was undergoing treatment for cancer.
Charles will withdraw from public engagements while undergoing treatment, but will continue to receive red boxes and government documents and hold weekly audiences with the prime minister.
The announcement came just eight days after he was released from hospital following a three-night stay for a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate.
