A FRESH 24-hour snow warning came after four airports were closed, hundreds of schools closed and rivers burst their banks in a -13C cold snap.
Major incidents have been declared across the UK as the country is hit by snow, “severe” flooding and freezing temperatures.

A yellow warning is in place for most of south-west England and Wales, coastal parts of North Wales and Merseyside and parts of north-west England and the West Midlands until 10am on Tuesday.
The same warning is in place for western and northern parts of Scotland until midday and in Northern Ireland until 11am.
The Met Office has now warned that much of Scotland can expect further snow and ice warnings from midday today until midday on Wednesday.
Temperatures of -13.3°C were recorded in Loch Glascarnoch in the Scottish Highlands last night.
East Midlands Ambulance Service also declared a critical incident for the first time ever with flooding partly responsible for an “escalation level”.
Authorities in Lincolnshire declared a major incident on Monday night, warning that further flooding could occur on Tuesday.
The Lincolnshire Resilience Forum said 40 flood warnings and 29 flood warnings were in place across the county with reports of 62 properties “internally flooded”.
The statement added: “We are really watching this develop closely as we know there could potentially be more flooding, particularly in areas that could be affected by tidal waters.”
Emergency services were also said to be on standby in Greatford, near Stamford, to monitor the West Glen River which they said threatened to flood 49 properties in the area.
The Environment Agency has issued a serious ‘danger to life’ flood warning for the River Soar covering caravans near Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire.
There are also 198 flood warnings and 300 flood warnings in place across England.

Commuters suffered on Monday as major roads were closed and train lines blocked.
Passenger chaos continued this morning with four airports having to close their runways.
Passengers due to depart from Bristol, John Lennon’s Liverpool, Manchester and Aberdeen Airport were thrown into chaos as every flight was grounded.
In an online post, Bristol Airport said: “Notice to passengers, due to the current weather conditions all flights are currently suspended until 7.30am, further information will be issued as information becomes available.”
Firefighters in Leicestershire rescued 59 people as a man’s body was recovered from a flooded area in North Yorkshire.
Police said the man has been formally identified, but efforts to trace his next of kin are still ongoing.
The force added that there are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Trains today were also heavily affected by adverse weather conditions.
Flooding caused the closure of all rail services between Peterborough and Leicester, affecting CrossCountry and East Midlands Rail services.

At a primary school in Lincolnshire, parents were told to stay away for the rest of the day with fire engines ready to carry children through floodwaters.
Hundreds of schools were closed across the country, in areas including Lancashire, Yorkshire and north-east Scotland.
In the Commons, Environment Secretary Emma Hardy told MPs that flooding was a “personal priority” for her.
She added that the Environment Agency was particularly concerned about Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.
Warning of further “localised” flooding in the next 24 to 36 hours, she pledged to review the government’s approach to flood defense funding.
