Friends Star Jane Sibbett Reveals 'Hilarious Reaction' Matthew Perry Had to Her Breastfeeding on Show

Jane Sibbett remembers the moment she left her Friends costar Matthew Perry “blushed”.

In an interview with Sun timed with the hit sitcom’s 30th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 22, the 61-year-old actress — who played Carol Willick — reflected on a few of her memorable scenes, including one during a season two episode titled “She With the Breasts, Milk.”

While the scene required Perry’s character Chandler and Matt LeBlanc’s Joey to react awkwardly to Carol breastfeeding Ben — the baby she shared with David Schwimmer’s Ross — Sibbett made a surprising improvisation during the scene.

“I actually tried to breastfeed the babies – with their mother’s permission – and that’s why you get such a funny reaction from Matt Perry,” Sibbett told Sun. “He said, ‘Whoa, Sibbett’s breast is out.’ He thought I was going to pantomime breastfeeding, but he didn’t know I was actually going to do it.”

Friends The creators say they’re always planning a reboot starring the characters’ kids — will it happen?

As Sibbett explained, the baby “had no idea what was going on and was reacting,” which is why she also found Perry’s reaction “so funny.”

“You can almost see him blushing if you look closely enough at that video,” she added. “It’s so funny. I mean, I’m sure he’s seen breasts before, but he’s never seen me pop my — my big milky breast — it was funny.”

David Schwimmer was ‘surprised’ to hear Matthew Perry praise his comedy: ‘He wouldn’t tell me that’

Earlier this week, series creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane reflected on the show’s 30th anniversary in an interview with Todayand Kauffman called Perry’s death in 2023 a “huge loss” that makes the landmark anniversary “a little fraught.” Perry died of an accidental drug overdose on October 28 at the age of 54.

“He made us laugh every day,” Crane said of the late star, while Kauffman recalled how “David always said [Matthew] he was the funniest man in the room.”

“He fought the good fight for so long, and it really seemed, with the reunion, that he finally found some peace,” added executive producer Kevin Bright.

While talking to The Times for the 30th anniversary retrospective of the iconic TV series, Kauffman, 67, detailed how she hopes fans will pay tribute to Perry.

“Two things come to mind. One of them is to donate to addiction treatment centers – we’re fighting a disease,” she said.

“And the other way is observation Friends and remember [Perry] not as a man who died like that, but as a man who was hilariously funny and brought joy to everyone,” she added.
