Career
Gabriel started his youth hockey career with Hammarby IF. After a great season with Hammarby IF in the J20 SuperElit, he joined Djurgrdens IF in the 2007-08 season. He was a member of the club for three years. Gabriel was selected by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League in the first round, third overall, in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. In the 2011-12 season, he made his debut in the NHL. The Colorado Avalanche selected Landeskog second overall in the 2011 NHL Draft. On October 12, 2011, he scored his first NHL goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He then spent a season with Djurgrdens IF before rejoining the Colorado Avalanche for the 2012–13 season.
Landeskog was named team captain by the Colorado Avalanche on September 4, 2012. He was the youngest captain in NHL history at the time. On April 17, 2014, he scored his first goal in the NHL playoffs against the Minnesota Wild. Since then, he has been the striker and captain of the team. He played for Sweden in numerous competitions. With his national team, he won the World Ice Hockey Championship in 2013 and 2017.
