The Early Life of Xherdan Shaqiri
Xherdan Shaqiri was born in present-day Kosovo, in Gijlan. When he was very young, his family moved to Switzerland. The family moved to a small town in Switzerland called August, located near the border with France and Germany. Before becoming a road builder, his father worked on an alpine farm and washed dishes in a restaurant. Shaqiri’s mother is a cleaner and she sells clothes when she gets home from work.
