Gamini Singla was born in 1999 in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab (23 years old; as of 2022). She graduated in Computer Science Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (2017-2021). Singla had always been interested in participating in extracurricular activities while in college. Gamini said her hobby is participating in Model United Nations, a model United Nations conference and assembly that teaches children how to act like representatives. She participated in various all-India political party meetings and was appointed as Director General of PECMUN 6.0 in 2019.
After the project was completed, Singla worked for about 1 year. Worked at JPMorgan Chase for 6 months in 2018. Her teacher Professor Rajesh Bhatia revealed in an interview,
She was a class representative and had a job offer during her internship on campus, but she didn’t participate because she wanted to work in the civil service.”

Her father, Alok Singla, is a MBBS and works as SMO at HP Health Services. Her mother Neeraj Singla is also a medical officer and works for the Himachal Pradesh government.

- She chose IAS as her first choice and IPS as her second choice. She said in an interview,
I have chosen Indian Administrative Service IAS and am willing to work for the development of the country and the welfare of the people”
- When asked in an interview, Singla revealed that she admires the confidence and courage displayed by IPS officers like Kiran Bedi and Navjot Simi in discharging their duties. She added that she considers both women role models for her.
- Gamini chose Sociology as her elective subject.
- She revealed in an interview that she studied for about 9 to 10 hours a day in order to take the exam. she says,
I used to study 9-10 hours a day. I took coaching from Mr. Vinod in Patiala. I mainly studied on my own to prepare for the exam, and I passed in the end. My father was instrumental in helping me prepare for the exams. “
- Singla attributes her success to her father, who read the newspaper to her every day and helped her stay abreast of current events. She said in an interview,
My family, especially my father, helped me a lot emotionally and academically. We often discussed academic issues and he knew what was important to me. This is a big help to me”
- During a mock interview to prepare for the final round of CSE, she revealed that she did not know how to drive a vehicle.
- PEC teachers are very proud of Singla’s results. Professor Sanjeev, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at PEC, said in an interview:
