In a release, the animal shelter said it named its cat adoption room after Garrison, in honor of his love and devotion to the cats adopted there.
“Today we honor Robert Garrison Brown for his love and compassion for cats and all animals by naming our Adoption Room after him and the cats he loved and adopted from us ♥️,” the organization announced.

Along with the message, the animal shelter shared a photo of a plaque that was made in Garrison’s memory. The monument shows him sitting in an armchair and smiling while holding his cats Catthew Patches and Ms. Buttons.

Garrison died by suicide at the age of 25 on March 5. His parents Janelle, 54, and Kody, 55, confirmed the news via social media. His brother, 22-year-old Gabriel, discovered him, Lt. Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.
The video was also shared in High Country Humane’s Saturday post by Director of Development Jane Horton talking about Garrison and his impact on the organization.
“I come at a very, very sad time, but also in a very unique situation with the departure of Garrison Brown,” Horton began. “… He was a big cat lover and was a foster carer with us, and unfortunately he took his own life.”
“… But through that grief, there was an outpouring of love from across the country from people who wanted to give gifts in Garrison’s memory,” she continued.
Horton said at the time that the organization “raised just over $25,000 in just two weeks” from supporters after Garrison’s death. “So it’s an amazing gift in his memory and a real testament to the person he was,” she added.
