Gaurav Kapoor was born on November 30th and is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. He graduated from Sumermal Jain Public School, Janakpuri, New Delhi. Gaurav graduated from Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University in Journalism (2007-2010). Later, he obtained a Masters in Fashion Management from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, India (2011-2013).

In January 2013, Gaurav started working as a Retail Planner at “Reliance Brands Limited” in Mumbai and worked there for nearly a year and a half. Later, he worked as an Assistant Manager at “Celio” for four months. From 2014 to 2017, he worked as an Assistant Manager in the Planning and Marketing department at “Pantaloons” in Mumbai.

While working as an Assistant Manager at Pantaloons in Mumbai, he was nominated as the ‘Funniest Person in the Team’ at an office event. In 2015, Gaurav started visiting several open mic competitions across Mumbai and tried his luck in the competitions. He won various open mic competitions in the Mumbai circuit including ‘Big Mic’, ‘Canvas Laugh Club’, ‘Chalta Hai’ and ‘Buzz Off’. Gaurav shot to fame when he opened for the famous Canadian stand-up comedian ‘Russell Peters’ during his ‘Almost Famous World Tour’ in Delhi. Since then, he has performed and uploaded various stand-up comedy videos on his YouTube channel on topics such as ‘Smartphones and Passwords’, ‘Rich People, Lifebuoys and Nanos’, ‘Destination Weddings’, etc. On 20 July 2018, Gaurav’s personal stand-up comedy special ‘Hahakaar’ premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

Gaurav Kapoor was once trolled and bashed by the audience to the point where his show was cancelled. This incident happened on April 6, 2017, when Gaurav made fun of the Royal Enfield Bullet and its rider in a talk show video uploaded on his channel.
Instead of responding to these criticisms with abuse or violence, Gaurav did what he does best, stand-up comedy. On October 16, 2017, he uploaded another video titled “Royal Enfield Jokes and Internet Hate” where he responded to his haters and trolls with humor. In the video description, he mentioned “If you like this video, come watch the live show.”

- In July 2020, Gaurav criticised abusive social media influencers who threatened to rape comedian Agrima Joshua, who is a close friend of Gaurav. He made an emotional appeal to the audience to stop idealising these malicious people and stop their defamatory statements against the female comedian.

- In 2020, Gaurav also participated in the show Amazon Funnies, which featured 14 famous Indian stand-up comedians. All the comedians performed for 10 minutes on the show. Gaurav talked about watching movies in a small town cinema in the late 90s and one of his most memorable group bunks in school.
