Despite his worries, Vijaypat was confident that Gautam would not abuse him. According to Vijaypat, as per the 2007 family agreement, he wanted to get a flat in his ancestral home JK House on Altamount Road in Mumbai. However, he was surprised to find that Gautam asked the board members not to allot him a flat in JK House in his absence. Gautam said changes in the Companies Act, 2013, blocked the rights issue. When reports of the feud surfaced, Vijaypat accused Gautam of stealing valuable documents and a gold medal from his cabin in Mahindra Towers, Worli. Gautam, on the other hand, spoke about the matter in an interview and denied the allegations, saying Vijaypat was seeking media attention and cheap publicity. Gautam Singhania said,
I find it extremely painful that at his age he is engaging in a campaign of condemnation for the sake of gaining media clout and cheap publicity. “

In an interview on November 22, 2023, Nawaz confirmed that Gautam attacked her and kicked her out of the company. She admitted that the first incident occurred on the morning of September 10, 2023, after his birthday party on the 9th. Gautam beat, beat, punched and kicked Nawaz and their young daughter Niharika for about 15 minutes before suddenly leaving the scene of the attack. Talking about this in an interview, she said:
I had two hernia surgeries, one during pregnancy and another when my fallopian tubes were removed due to an ectopic pregnancy, resulting in another hernia. He knew this but still threw me across the room several times. He just went all out for Niharika and me and we just wanted to protect each other. “
Nawaz further spoke about what prompted the attack and revealed that the fight started because he wanted to use her bathroom. She said the fight wasn’t really about the bathroom, but about power and control. Furthermore, Navas also revealed that she did not convert the non-cognizable crime report into an FIR as domestic violence is a non-bailable offense punishable by three years of rigorous imprisonment and hard labor.
