Profession
After completing her studies, Gayatri Joshi started her career as a video jockey for Channel V in India. In 1999, Gayatri participated in the Miss India Female competition. She was one of the top five contestants on the show.
After the show, Sony Entertainment Channel selected her to represent India in the Miss International Japan competition through audience voting.
In 2000, she represented India in the Miss International competition held in Japan.
Soon she was getting offers for Indian TV commercials including Bombay Dyeing, Philips, Ponds, Godrej, Sunsilk, LG and Gits – Heat and Eat.

- In October 2023, Gayatri and her husband Vikas Oberoi met with an accident in Italy. They were reportedly traveling in Sardinia in their Lamborghini when a Ferrari hit their car and a camper van. Gayatri and Vikas survived the accident; however, another couple from Zurich, Switzerland, Markus Krautli and Melissa Krautliin, were camping Death in car. Vikas reportedly later faced charges of dual-way homicide under Italian law.
