Snaps shared on Instagram show a romantic display of roses on a lavish hotel bed with the caption “Will you be my girlfriend”.
He even invited Maia to weekly rowing practices so he could show off his skills on the field.
A video he shared on his Instagram showed Gaz warming up for a match at Surge Padel in Harrogate, North Yorks, captioned with a heart emoji.
But the new romance could lead to tension with Gaz’s family and friends in Newcastle – as Maia is a die-hard Sunderland fan.
