Gazal Dhaliwal is a Bollywood film writer and actor. She is best known for her work as a writer on the film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. She is also a transgender woman, as she changed her gender from male to female. Here are the details about her.

Biography/Wiki

Gazal Dhaliwal, formerly known as Gunraj Singh Dhaliwal, was born in Patiala, Punjab, India. Her family and friends affectionately call her Gunu. At the age of five, Gunraj identified himself as female because he loved playing with dolls and wearing his mother’s clothes. However, he did not tell his parents about this. When he was 14 years old, he told his father about it. His father couldn’t understand his son and didn’t take anything seriously. It was only after Gunraj ran away from home in frustration that his parents began to take him seriously. In 2007, 25-year-old Gunraj underwent sex reassignment surgery (SRS) to change his gender. After the operation, Gangraj was known as Gazal Dhaliwal.

Gazal Dhaliwal received his education at Budha Dal Public School in Patiala. She received her Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. In 2004, she started working as a software engineer at Infosys Technologies Ltd. in Mysore, Karnataka. However, Ghazal quit his job in 2005 to pursue a career as a writer in Bollywood. She then completed a one-year filmmaking course at Xavier Institute of Communication (XIC), Mumbai. Later, she had the opportunity to assist film director Govind Nihalani in the shooting of an animated film.

In 2014, Gazal Dhaliwal appeared in the episode “Embracing the Alternative Gender” of Satyamev Jayate Season 3 hosted by Aamir Khan .

In 2015, she made her debut with the short film “Agli Baar”. Apart from being an actress, she is also a writer and made her acting debut in 2016 with the film Wazir. She wrote the dialogue for the film. She has also written dialogues for several other films such as Lipstick Under the Burkha (2016) and Qarib Qarib Single (2017). In 2017, Ghazal co-wrote the screenplay for the film Qarib Qarib Single.

In 2018, Gazal Dhaliwal created the story of the short film Monsoon Date. She also wrote the story, dialogues and screenplay for the film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019), starring Anil Kapoor, Yush Chawla, Sonam Kapoor and Rajku Starring Ma Rao.
